Somatosensory 2024
by: Katie Jackson
Our 2024 Somatosensory Tactile Art Exhibit, done in collaboration with the Pittsburgh Society of Sculptors, ran from November 7 through November 29 this year and we can proudly say it was another huge success! This year’s multisensory exhibit was our largest one yet, with 26 sculptures created by 16 artists. We were thrilled to have a bunch of new artists participate alongside our veteran artists.
The event kicked off with our opening reception on Thursday evening, November 7, from 4:30-6:30 pm here at LAMP Pittsburgh and it was our biggest gathering with 165 attendees that night! The artists mingled with family, friends and patrons and they were able to speak with the jurors who voted on which sculptures to include in the exhibit, hoping to get an idea of what features to include in their sculptures to better ensure a coveted place in the event next year.
It’s been such a delight watching how the Somatosensory Tactile Art Exhibit has changed and progressed over the years, and we are hopeful that it will continue to expand and flourish! We look forward to including new artists and maybe even seeing some collaborations between artists and LAMP patrons working together to create new tactile creations.
If you missed the exhibit this year, be sure to check it out next year! Head over to our Instagram page to see pictures and short videos from the Opening Reception.
